Ferries to Vancouver Island

Vancouver Island is easily accessed by ferries travelling from Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay) and Nanaimo (Departure Bay) as well as from Tsawassen to Nanaimo (Duke Point) or Victoria (Swartz Bay).

Driving to Campbell River

Located 264 km (165 miles) north of Victoria and only 153 km (95 miles) north of Nanaimo, Campbell River is easily reached via the Island Highway (19) or by the more scenic Oceanside Route (19A). If you travel Highway 19, you can either EXIT at the Jubilee Parkway and take that to the Oceanside Route, turn left and travel through Campbell River to the Discovery Harbour Marina, following signs to City Centre. Alternatively you can stay on Highway19 and bypass the drive through Campbell River. Taking this route you will carry along the Highway until you reach the options of Gold River, Sayward and again Campbell River City Centre. Here you will turn right and access the Discovery Harbour Marina from North of Campbell River.

The Oceanside Route, Highway 19A is available from Parksville North to Campbell River. To take this scenic, fully serviced route, watch for the official "starfish" signs at EXITS along Highway 19.


Bus to Campbell River

Island Coach Lines (Laidlaw) serves Victoria to Port Hardy, and points in between, including Campbell River. Connect to Island Coach Lines from Vancouver on Greyhound or Pacific Coach Lines. Check out their schedules and fares at Greyhound.
