Homathko River


Bute Inlet, British Columbia Located 71 miles from Campbell River,  the Homathko River is one of the major rivers of the southern Coast Mountains of British Columbia, and enters the ocean at the head of Bute Inlet (visit Bute Inlet on our fully guided Grizzly Bear Tours!)  adjacent to the mouth of the Southgate River. The Homathko - Tatlayoko Protected Area is comprised of 17,575 hectares of diverse landscape, including coastal rainforests and wetlands.

The Homathko and Chilko Rivers both have dense salmon runs that attract grizzly bear populations during the fall spawning season.  The Homathko River Camp is also known as an access point for Mount Waddington as well as many heli skiing adventures. Way West Water taxi will drop you and your gear off for your remote wilderness adventure. Water taxi transportation from Campbell River to the Homathko River Camp is approximately 2 and a half hour.
